Biography

The trio

Sènia Ensemble was born from the meeting of three musicians —Alejandro, Sara and Carla— united by a shared passion: chamber music. Like the river Sènia, which rises in the province of Castellón and flows through the Valencian lands, fed by its tributaries, our trio draws on the experiences and collaborations of each of its members in orchestras, conservatoires and projects across Spain and Europe. With the violin, viola and cello as voices of a single dialogue, we offer a repertoire that ranges from the most classical baroque to today's film scores and songs, always adapted to the spirit of each celebration. Based in València and Castellón, we travel wherever music can turn a moment into a memory.

Alejandro Boix, violinist of Sènia Ensemble, with his violin

Alejandro Boix

Violin

Born in Castellón, Alejandro began his violin studies at eleven under Manuel Puig Torres (RTVE and the Spanish National Orchestra) and Bruno Vidal (Leonor Quartet), before moving to the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in Tallinn, where he completed his Bachelor's and Master's degrees. He has honed his technique in masterclasses with violinists such as Vasko Vassilev, Rosa Fain and Mikhail Spivak, and has performed with orchestras such as the Estonian National Orchestra and the Tallinn International Youth Orchestra, playing in venues such as the Palau de la Música in València and the Estonian National Concert Hall. He also holds a master's degree in Music Education, and currently combines performing with teaching.

Sara Lázaro, viola player of Sènia Ensemble, with her instrument

Sara Lázaro

Viola

A Valencian viola player trained at the Conservatorio Profesional de València, Sara combines her career as a performer with her work as a primary school teacher. She has taken part in various musical projects and furthered her training through courses and classes with renowned professionals. At Sènia Ensemble she focuses on chamber music and performing at ceremonies and events, with a style marked by sensitivity, warmth and attention to every detail. Her dual role as educator and musician brings a human, committed outlook to every performance, always adapting the repertoire to reflect the essence of each celebration.

Carla Calvo, cellist of Sènia Ensemble, with her cello

Carla Calvo

Cello

A Valencian cellist who graduated from the Escuela Superior de Música de Alto Rendimiento (ESMAR) under the guidance of Adrian Van Dongen, Carla has taken part in masterclasses with renowned national and international musicians and has been part of various orchestral and chamber music projects in the Comunidad Valenciana, with a performance style marked by sensitivity and rigour. Besides her work as a performer, she is also the one who coordinates Sènia Ensemble: she accompanies couples from their first contact, organises preliminary meetings, advises on choosing the repertoire, and looks after every detail so that the music reflects the personality of each celebration.

Your ceremony, with music

Except for entrances and exits, religious ceremonies tend to call for a more classical repertoire; civil ceremonies allow greater freedom, combining traditional pieces, film scores or pop-rock. Every ceremony is unique and its running order can vary, so these are only sample outlines: both the order and the pieces are fully adaptable to your celebration.

Frequently asked questions

What you ask us most

We answer the most common questions about live music for your wedding or event.

At what points does the music play during a religious ceremony?

We play at the key moments of the liturgy: guest arrival, entrance of the groom and bride, after the readings, offertory, sign of peace, communion, signing of the register, and recessional, always respecting the flow of the ceremony.

And in a civil ceremony?

It depends on each ceremony, but in general terms: guest arrival, entrance of the witnesses, entrance of the groom, entrance of bridesmaids / rings and petals, entrance of the bride, symbolic ritual (sand, light...), exchange of rings, and recessional.

What's included in the fee, and how do you handle special requests?

It includes a selection of pieces from our repertoire plus two additional requests outside it. Requests added beyond the repertoire carry a fee adjustment.

We're getting married outside the Comunidad Valenciana — do you travel?

Of course: at Sènia Ensemble there are no limits by distance or date. We work year-round throughout the peninsula and even abroad.

What happens if one of the core members can't make it on the day?

Nothing changes: we work with musicians who meet the same artistic standard as Sènia Ensemble, so your peace of mind is part of the service.

How long does the performance last?

It depends on the service booked: usually 45 minutes for a cocktail hour or 90 minutes for a reception/event, though we adapt the length to your programme.

Do you need anything special at the venue?

Very little: a level space and, if outdoors, preferably shaded, plus chairs for the musicians. If the event requires amplification, we'll let you know in advance whether access to a power outlet is needed.

Our ceremony is outdoors — what happens if it rains or gets very hot?

Our instruments cannot be exposed to rain, direct sun or humidity, so if the event is outdoors we recommend always having an alternative covered space ready. If bad weather is forecast, we coordinate the move together with enough advance notice.

Can we take photos or record video of your performance?

Of course! In fact, we encourage it: record and photograph our performance freely, tag us on social media, and share our contact details with whoever you like. If you have a professional photo or video team, we coordinate with them so as not to interfere with the moment.

How do you book the date, and how does payment work?

To confirm the booking, a deposit is required, which is deducted from the total amount; the remainder is paid before or on the day of the event. Please also note that the prices we quote are always exclusive of taxes and travel charges (if the event requires them). We'll explain the whole process in detail as soon as we confirm availability.

How far in advance should we book the date?

The sooner, the better, especially in high season (spring and summer), when dates fill up faster. Get in touch as soon as you have a date and venue to confirm availability. What's more, if you book more than 6 months in advance, we apply a 10% discount on the total.
